Arthur’s
prestigious list of clients include: Disney, Warner Bros., Suzuki, and
Carlton Greetings, among others. Although John is primarily known for his
romantic fantasy watercolors, (ROMANTASY™) he is a figurative artist whose
passion for the human form has led him to a to experiment in a wide variety of
mediums. His oils, pen & ink and pencil work all center around the same
theme; the human figure. "There is no greater subject," the artist
says. "For me, the figure is a vehicle for the soul. It all starts with
the face; the expression, the attitude, the emotion. The body follows: the
head upturned, the torso tilted or twisted, the arms outstretched, the hands,
the feet- all have a part in the end result." The artist is an avid
sketcher and has taught art classes from his home studio for the past
twenty-five years passing along his endless enthusiasm for art to children and
adults alike. (Check out WRITINGS for more.) John
also instructs Master Art seminars, and has a passion for blues piano and fly
fishing. John lives with his wife, Maureen and their two children in the San
Bernardino Mountains in Crestline, California. Apart from his ongoing study of
the human figure, his favorite subjects to draw and paint are his children,
the inspiration from which has yielded hundreds of works.
The artist was last
seen in Paris, France, in a cafe outside the Louvre having coffee with
underground artist/blues musician, Reverend Tuba White. They were sketching
passerbys while discussing their mutual fondness for Rembrandt’s etchings,
Sargent’s water colors, and contemporary
European-post-modernist-existentialist anatomy.
